2017 Sponsorship Opportunities

The Carrack’s Annual Fundraiser

Why support The Carrack?

We believe art is an invaluable community asset – a resource for cultivating productive relationships and sparking positive change.

The Carrack is a platform for experimentation, conversation, and connection through the arts. We provide professional support and free exhibition and performance opportunities that empower artists to dream big and speak out at all stages of their careers.

The Carrack is a zero-commission art space entirely funded by donations. Thank you for supporting this project and keeping art accessible.

About Sponsorship Levels

A RED DOT indicates that an artwork has sold. Help us nurture a thriving local arts economy, in which The Carrack allows artists to keep 100% of what they earn from sales.

The KEY to our mission is to grant all artists complete access to a professional exhibit and performance space.

TORUS is the name of our home at 947 East Main Street, built on the concept of a dynamic, recursive exchange of artistic energy and ideas.

There are no limits to how the community can use our space. Poetry, film, dance, performance, visual art…the possibilities are INFINITE.

In 2014 at The Carrack, Antoine Williams and I showed our post-graduate work centered on race-based conflict. The gallery provided a platform for me to engage in critical discussions with a larger community. And since that show I feel continually supported in my efforts as an artist by both The Carrack and the community it helped me find, which has led to a partnership with ArtsNowNC that's really grown my career.

As artists, we're asked to dig deep and go long. We're asked to show up for our own careers and play and build with others doing the same. I've shown my work many times at The Carrack. I've found my creative edge there. Shown with my colleagues. Attended performances, talks, and openings. I've played. Playing at The Carrack is a challenge. It's a relationship of reciprocity.

My work relies on interaction with the public. The Carrack gave me all the support I needed to spread the word about my show and get visitors & volunteers to participate in my project there.

I also felt—during preparation, set up and throughout the exhibition—the respect that Laura Ritchie, the staff, and volunteers have for the artists that exhibit in the gallery. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity I had to show my work at The Carrack, a place inhabited by people who love what they do.

The Carrack was one of my first stops after moving here. At our first meeting, Laura welcomed me to dream about ways to use the space for events and performances. That led to the PROMPTS event series, for which artists create experimental works on a new prompt each quarter. The community that grew around that helped me found my own dance company, COMPANY, and meet the visual artist Heather Gordon, who's become a lifelong collaborator. The Carrack is an important place to encounter inspiring work and people.
