Sails and Spars, Stormy Weather and Settling Seas

Sails and Spars, Stormy Weather and Settling Seas: An Impression of the Neuse River

By Ed and Melissa Walker

August 31 – September 5, 2012

Ed and Melissa Walker will construct an installation that incorporates sails, video and sound to create an impression of their marina on the Neuse River. Both artists feel a personal and aesthetic connection to the subject; boats and water have long been the subjects of Melissa’s paintings and Ed’s sculptures assemble and weave together collections of found objects, both natural and manmade. Their collaborative exhibit will create a new environment in The Carrack that will let people explore new pathways and perhaps feel a little wind in their sails. Melissa Walker is a North Carolina artist and art educator who specializes in abstract mixed media collages and landscape painting in watercolor or pastel. Sculptor Ed Walker is founder and owner of Carolina Bronze in Seagrove, NC.
