New Uses for Old Things

New Uses for Old Things

Robin Walker

February 12 – 23, 2013

Robin Walker’s recent work exposes the facade of marketing by placing figures from magazine advertisements into new environments drawn from scenes in religious art historical tableaux. The male figures in these tableaux are often replaced with female figures. This role reversal, and the addition of traditionally feminine patterning to the work highlights women in significant, powerful roles as the subject matter in her paintings.
