The Carrack is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, 501(c)(3) public charity, and contributions for the purposes of The Carrack are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
350 choose-your-price tickets went fast and we have now reached capacity entirely, even after a second run of tickets were released. We feel really loved by this community and are so pleased by the response we have received. Every contribution makes an impact and we are so grateful for all of your support.
We still need your help to reach our fundraising goal.
We only do a community fundraiser once a year, so it’s crucial that the community love, enthusiasm and participation that we feel all year translates into dollars this week. The Carrack is a 100%-volunteer-run, 100%-donation-funded, no-commission art space smack in the middle of a rapidly developing downtown Durham. Please keep this ship we’re all on afloat!
If you have climbed the stairs to one of our exhibits and said under your breath “What a great space,” we need your financial support this week. If you have swelled with pride to see your artwork in one of our annual community exhibitions, we need your financial support this week. If you have been inspired by one of our concerts, dance performances, or readings, learned something new at one of our workshops, lectures, or salons, or made a key professional contact at one of our creative gatherings or networking evenings, we need your financial support this week.
Tickets to The Muse Masquerade are no longer available, but we hope you will still support The Carrack and that you will join us for one – or many! – of the hundreds of free arts events we offer in our space every year.

All proceeds raised will support the events, exhibits, programming and operations of The Carrack in 2016. Following the structure set forth by a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2011, we look to our patrons every year for support of the year ahead. We make it a point to raise 100% of our operational costs before the start of a new exhibit season so that we can ensure complete creative freedom for our artists with no commercial pressure from the space.
$30,000 covers rent, modest supply and programming needs, and will allow, for the very first time, for The Carrack to create one staff stipend in 2016. Paired with our ongoing and ever-growing Sustainer Program, our goal is to create one permanent paid position and to prepare to expand into a new space by the end of 2017.
Please join The Muse Masquerade‘s Facebook event page and invite your Facebook friends. We are constantly updating information there about what you’ll experience at The Muse Masquerade and sharing creative mask ideas to help you win the Best Mask contests. Also, you may want to sign up for The Carrack’s email newsletter at the bottom of this page.
