Art & Textiles by Megan Burchett & Ann Tilley

June 17 – 28, 2014

LOVE SIGNS, a collaborative art show between Ann Tilley and Megan Burchett, explores a personal inner voice dealing with, learning about, and experiencing love, through fragmented text, watercolor landscapes, and universal imagery. Ann Tilley’s color knittings and large-scale crochet banners are based around themes of partnership and domesticity. Painfully familiar one-liners wrapped in the cuddly kitsch of textiles. Megan Burchett uses her dynamic abilities in the print studio, relief to painting, screen-printing to letterpress processes, to express love in the context of longing and memory. Both artists utilize text and personal symbology to express the intimacy of shared spaces, as well as longing in lonely landscapes and singular bodies. While approaching the notion of love from different viewpoints, their collective work describes emotional bonds as both incredibly familiar and utterly distant.
