March 17 – 28, 2015
Center/Gallery is a cooperative feminist gallery based in Chapel Hill and Carrboro that was active from 1977-84. It was an integral part of the nationwide feminist art movement, included in major texts on the era. In the 30 years since the group’s heyday, the artists of Center/Gallery have thrived and passed their expertise on to younger woman artists. This show will bring together the generations that Center/Gallery has influenced. It will document their legacy and provide a springboard for feminist art projects to come.
