In celebration of their 7th anniversary, HappymessART is rebranding to become ARTpost and will host an exhibition and event series at The Carrack.
The exhibition features artwork by Durham artist George Mitchell. Mitchell holds a BA in Art from North Carolina Central University and an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2003, Mitchell was a victim of gun violence and was left paralyzed. Mitchell has been working with ARTpost’s ARTREACH program over the last four years to finish a series of works he started in the late 1990s, inspired by black Olympic athletes. The ARTpost exhibition will raise funds to employ local artists to serve as apprentices to help Mitchell complete his series.
Opening Reception: Friday, February 16, 6-9pm during Third Friday Durham with live music by Brannon Bollinger
Artist’s Talk with George Mitchell: Sunday, February 25, 2pm
