Saturday, May 31, 2014, 8pm & Sunday, June 1, 2014, 6:30 pm
The performances will feature four new works by Schoch created especially for the intimate gallery space and live music by Winston-Salem based musician/composer Quiqué Rodriguez-Pastor. Local dancers Christiana Barnett-Murphy, William Commander, Kate Currin, Jenn Shinn and Ronald West will perform with Schoch.
The four premiers include “Garden”, featuring Barnet-Murphy and Shinn to music by American Dance Festival accompanist, Michael Wall and loosely based on a previous duet choreographed by Schoch and performed by himself and his daughter. “Converse”, with a sound collage designed by Schoch and music by Jacaszek, is a duet for the choreographer and Kate Currin, first shown as a work in progress at American Dance Festival’s inaugural “Local, Look and Listen” program. Accompanied live by Rodriguez-Pastor, Schoch will also perform the short solo “Still/Flight”. The program concludes with “Balance/Shift”, a quartet and work-in-progress, danced by Barnett-Murphy, Commander, Currin, and West and is set to a newly commissioned score by Winston-Salem based musician and composer, John Wilson. Interspersed through the program, Rodriguez-Pastor will play two other new compositions for acoustic and electric guitar.
Seating is limited with a $5 suggested donation.
