Join us for an elegant evening on Saturday, October 12 from 6:30 – 9:30 pm with food and friends in support of The Carrack Modern Art!

About the event

The evening will begin with refreshments provided by LOAF Bakery and an open bar with beer from Bull City Burger and Brewery and wine from Wine Authorities. At 7:00, the acclaimed Brian Horton Quartet will play a special jazz set with music from his just-released album Brand New Day. The event features an intimate exhibit that highlights the talents of many of our 2013 Exhibit Season Artists, and includes original pieces by internationally known guest artists. All work will be available for purchase during a silent auction from 8:00 – 9:00 pm. The evening will close with coffee from Cocoa Cinnamon.

Preview the work included in our auction exhibit.

Tickets are $40 for current Carrack Sustainers and $100 for others. Limited tickets are available.

Tickets can be purchased at https://www.artful.ly/store/events/1720 or at the door on the night of the event. We recommend purchasing in advance.

About Carrack Sustainers: This year we have encouraged our patrons to sign up as “Sustainers” for The Carrack at the $5 – $10/month level. If just 200 people sign up to give $5 a month, we have covered our overhead costs for an entire year. This can be done through our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, with a secure monthly auto draft that is fully tax-deductible. If you would like to sign up to be a Carrack sustainer, you may do so at http://thecarrack.org/donate.

What does this event support?

All proceeds raised will support the events, exhibits, programming and operations of The Carrack in 2014. Each year, we look to our patrons for support of the year ahead. We make it a point to raise 100% of our operational costs before the start of a new exhibit season so that we can ensure complete creative freedom for our artists with no commercial pressure from the space.

About The Carrack

The Carrack is a zero commission art space founded in downtown Durham in 2011. Our mission is to empower local artists to forge productive cultural and socio-economic ties with their community through professional exhibit and performance opportunities in a space that is not commercially driven. To date, the Carrack has hosted over 65 exhibits and supported hundreds of visual and performing artists. Our grassroots approach facilitates a dynamic conversation between the arts community and downtown Durham, one that directly fuels its ongoing revitalization.
